Stein, Jeanne: Legacy (Ace, Sep08)
I could probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of vampire books I've enjoyed over the years, so imagine my surprise when I found myself caught up in this one, Stein's fourth book in what is apparently a continuing series. What I appreciated most is how it focused on the character and the very pulpy plot as opposed to all the usual vampiric cliches: the death, darkness, blood and angst were there, sure, but they were nicely off to the side. I don't remember seeing the previous books, but I'll be keeping an eye out for the next.
