Ursula K. Le Guin, a charter member of SFWA, has added a new feature to her website, http://www.ursulakleguin.com/. In “Read by the Author”, visitors can hear her read from her work. “Read by the Author” begins with “The Open Boat,” an excerpt from her classic fantasy novel, A Wizard of Earthsea, which has been in print continuously since its first publication in 1968. Over the next several weeks, new audio files will include Three Poems from Wild Angels, a complete short story, "She Unnames Them", from Buffalo Gals and Other Animal Presences, and “A Book of Songs: Twelve Poems” from Incredible Good Fortune. The audio files are available by web-based player or as MP3s. Le Guin’s website offers essays, fiction, Notes & Comments, Neat Stuff (including the Earthsea Ambigram by Ryan Grohsmeyer), a “New on the Website” RSS feed, and news about recent and forthcoming titles and a Spring west coast book tour. Her most recent fantasy novel is Powers, the third volume in the Annals of the Western Shore. Her historical novel Lavinia will be published by Harcourt in April 2008. |
