Joining SFWA

SFWA offers five classes of membership:

Active Members: Established authors with three qualifying short story sales, one qualifying novel sale, or one professionally produced full-length dramatic script.
Associate Members: Authors with at least one qualifying short story sale.
Affiliate Members: Allied professionals (e.g. agents, editors, reviewers, artists, and graphic novelists) who work with a qualifying professional market.
Institutional Members: Organizations with legitimate interest in science fiction and fantasy or individuals associated with these groups.
Estate Members: Legal representatives for the estates of Active members.

More information on each of these groups can be found in our membership requirements.

All members receive our quarterly Bulletin, a copy of the annual membership Directory, and copies of our model paperback and hardcover contracts. In addition, active, associate, and estate members receive our in-house newsletter (The SFWA Forum). Only active members may vote for officers and the Nebula Awards®.
