August 2004 By-laws AmendmentMoved, that Article X (Amendments), Section 1, which currently reads: "These by-laws may be amended, repealed or altered in whole or in part by a majority of those active members voting, said majority to be not less than one third of the active members in good standing on the date of the vote." Shall be amended to read: "These by-laws may be amended, repealed or altered in whole or in part by a simple majority of those active members voting, where total votes received represent no less than one-third of the active membership in good standing at the time the ballots are mailed." On August 31, 2004, SFWA® Secretary, Deborah J. Ross, reported that the ballots had been counted for the By-Laws Referendum. The numbers submitted by out-going Secretary Kathy Wentworth were as follows:
Aye — 399 365 affirmative votes were required for the measure to pass, so it passed.
