Patrick Joseph Kelly Jr.

Baltimore science fiction fan, Patrick J. Kelly Jr., died from a heart attack on January 27, 2004. He was one of the founders and a current director of the Baltimore Science Fiction Society; a longtime worker on Balticon, which he Chaired in 1982; and the organizer of related events in Richmond, Virginia and Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Mr. Kelly, age 57, retired from the Department of Defense in 2001.

Services were noon Friday in Pikesville, Maryland with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Baltimore. Contributions in his memory should be sent to: The Baltimore Science Fiction Society, P.O. Box 686, Baltimore, MD 21203; Congregation Beit Tikvah Scholarship Fund, 5802 Roland Ave, Baltimore, MD 21211; or the National Space Society, 600 Pennsylvania Ave., S.E., Suite 201, Washington, DC 20003.

He is survived by his wife, Miriam Kelly; daughters, Laurel and Alexandra Kelly; brothers, Frank Kelly and Thomas Kelly; and a sister, Elizabeth A Dang.
