What is the Westin like?

We have a fabulous hotel in a fabulous location — downtown Seattle, just blocks from shopping, the Pike Place Market, Seattle Art Museum, and many other attractions.

The Westin Seattle is comprised of two round high-rise towers. Their 891 guest rooms and suites have sweeping views of downtown, the Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains. Guest room amenities include all the services and amenities would you expect from a first class hotel and feature the Westin Heavenly Bed and Heavenly Shower, Starwood Turbo Net High Speed Internet Access (by request), and Dual-Line Telephones. Handicap accessible rooms are available, of course.

Hotel services include 24-hour fitness facility, front desk, and room service, and a Business Center. The Westin's two restaurants are Roy's of Seattle, a fine Pacific Rim dining experience, and the Fifth Avenue Corner Cafe, a casual spot for a light meal. Roy's has an elegant bar area, but the place to be seen will likely be the Lobby Bar, a spacious and comfortable section of the main lobby, ideal for large conversational groups.

What is the area nearby like?

Nearby attractions (1-5 blocks) include Pacific Place Shopping Mall, Westlake Center, The Bon-Macys, Fifth Avenue and Paramount Theatres, and the Pike Place Market. There are many fine restaurants within just a few blocks. Some of our favorites are the Palace Kitchen, Cascadia, Flying Fish, Fandango, Campagne, and the Dahlia Lounge. Additionally, there are many budget-oriented meals available — Zeek's Pizza will deliver for only $1 extra! And there's a grocery two blocks away.

What is the room rate?

Our hotel room rates are: $155.00/single or double occupancy; $185.00/triple plus tax.

There are several types of suites also available; please check directly with us for rates and information.

That seems expensive. Are there less costly hotels nearby?

There are second-tier hotels in the area, but we hope you will stay at the Westin.

We are offering a first class hotel at lower than usual rates for downtown Seattle's best facilities. The Westin is providing us with the large and beautifully decorated Imperial Suite for our Hospitality Suite at no charge, and there will be plenty of room in the Cascade Ballroom and large Cascade Foyer for our meetings, book tables, Reception and Awards Ceremony. Please check out their web site (address is above) for more detailed information on this really fine facility.

Arrangements with the Westin are based, in part, on the above room rates, and will actually keep our Nebula Weekend 2004 membership fee as low as possible.

Additionally, by staying at the Westin, you'll be close at hand for parties, not need to worry about catching a cab in your banquet outfit, and more likely to run into friends at breakfast.

I want to stay longer. Does the SFWA rate apply for that?

The $155 rate is in effect from Tuesday April 13 though Tuesday April 20.

How do I make a reservation?

Update: March 26. The Westin is now reporting that they are full for the Nebula Weekend.

When should I make my reservations?

The Westin Seattle reports it is full Nebula weekend. Please see the alternate hotel arrangements information.

How do I get there from the airport?

There is an airport shuttle for $8.50 per person each way. A taxi would be about $32-35 each way. [Offsite link to transportation information]

How do I drive to the hotel?

Directions and a map can be found at the Westin Seattle's Driving Directions section.

What about parking?

The Westin has an attached parking garage, with an entrance on the 6th Avenue side. The 5th Avenue "Westin Tower Parking" is not affiliated with the hotel. Rates for self-parking are: $24.00 per 24 hours, with in and out privileges. Hourly parking is $6.00 for the first hour, then $1.00 for each 30 minutes. Less expensive hourly parking is available at Pacific Place, 6th and Pine (open 24 hours), and other nearby commercial lots. There is also limited street parking, which is free after 6 p.m.

How do I get to Seattle by train?

Amtrak stops at King Street Station, which is about one mile south of the hotel. A taxi to the hotel should be in the $5. range

What will the weather be like?

Seattle Aprils are as changable as everywhere else! Expect temperatures to be in the 50s, with the possibility of rain showers. We could get lucky and get a week of balmy spring sunshine, but do pack a coat.

KOMO-TV offers an online forecast of Puget Sound weather.
