An auction to benefit the Emergency Medical Fund will be held at Philcon 2004, science fiction convention, held at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown on December 10th-12th, 2004.

The SFWA® Emergency Medical Fund offers interest-free loans to members facing unexpected medical expenses. The primary fund-raising activity is a series of auctions given at SF conventions around the country. The committee has auctioned off autographed books, manuscripts, screenplays, and other collectibles donated by authors and publishers, as well as manuscript critiques by editors, characters in forthcoming books named for the high bidders, and unique items such as one of Isaac Asimov's bolo neckties.
