Jeffrey Liss (Nebula Weekend Chair), Steven Silver (accepted for LotR:RotK), Gardner Dozois (accepted for Walter Jon Williams), Kevin O'Donnell Jr, Lois McMaster Bujold, Eileen Gunn, Ellen Klages Kneeling: Neil Gaiman (Toastmaster), Todd McCaffrey, Anne McCaffrey The Nebula Awards are voted on, and presented by, active members of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Inc. Founded as the Science Fiction Writers of America in 1965 by Damon Knight, the organization began with a charter membership of 78 writers; it now has over 1,500 members, among them most of the leading writers of science fiction and fantasy. The winners are:
Best Novella of 2004 - "The Green Leopard Plague" by Walter Jon Williams (Asimov's, Oct/Nov 2003) Best Novelette of 2004 - "Basement Magic" by Ellen Klages (F&SF, May03) Best Short Story of 2004 - "Coming to Terms" by Eileen Gunn (Stable Strategies and Others, Tachyon Publications, Sep 2004) Best Script of 2004 - The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King by Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens & Peter Jackson (New Line Cinema)
